Summer Barley Salad | 夏天版大麥沙律
Everyone has their own version of Summer Barley Salad - some add mangetouts or cucumber, but I like to put mine with radish, corn, cherry tomatoes, buffalo mozarella, salad onions and mint. Quite frankly, apart from the barley that requires cooking, it's pretty much popping everything else in your salad. Simple yet healthy, all good for the weight watchers.
每個人都有不同夏天版大麥沙律的做法. 你可以放雪豆或青瓜, 而我自己就放了其他不同的東西. 除了大麥需要煮, 其他材料根本切好了就可以吃了. 簡單但很健康.

Ingredients | 材料

500g of barley
Handful of salad radish, chopped into pieces
200g of corn (either fresh or canned)
2 salad onions, finely chopped
Handful of cherry tomatoes, chopped in half
1 block of buffalo mozarella, chopped into pieces
Few mint leaves (optional)
Salt and pepper
Extra virgin olive oil. tiny dash
大麥 500克
沙律蘿蔔仔 大概6-8粒, 切片
粟米 200克 (新鮮或罐頭)
沙律青蔥 2條
車厘茄 大概10粒, 切半
水牛芝士 1個, 切片
薄荷葉 少許 (隨意)
鹽和黑胡椒
特級橄欖油 少許
Procedures| 步驟
1. Pour 500g of pearl barley into the saucepan, and add 3 cups of water. Let it to boil first, then simmer in medium-low heat for 40 minutes.
倒500克的大麥在平底鍋裡, 然後加3杯水. 首先讓大麥用大火煲滾, 然後慢慢煮, 用中小火煮大概40分鐘.
2. Cut, slice, or chop the rest of the ingredients (you may of course, choose your own ingredients for your barley salad). If you want to make it more summer-like, make your salad look glamorous with colour and appealing to one's eyes.
把其他的材料切好, 你可以用任何配搭來配你自創的沙律. 如果要做夏日版的話, 可以把沙律做得更彩色, 更美麗.
3. After barley is cooked, drain it and place in a bowl or plate, then assemble your other ingredients. Sprinkle a bit of pepper and salt and a dash of extra virgin olive oil. Serve.
大麥煮完後, 就把它放水, 倒在碟或碗裡, 放進其他已切好的食物. 放一點鹽和黑胡椒, 和加一點特級橄欖油就大功告成了.
Tips | 提示
1. Any kind of ingredients works in making this salad - as long as they match perfectly.
任何材料去做這個沙律都可以, 最重要的是這些材料都是適當的.
2. Do not eat barley raw - if barley is still crunchy and hard to bite, it means that it is still raw. Cooked barley should be soft and slightly mushy texture.
千萬別生吃大麥. 如果大麥還是很脆和很難咬的話, 這證明大麥是還沒熟的. 熟了的大麥是軟綿綿的.
